Classes in Sacred Dance are offered on Saturdays
starting October 31, 10:45 am - Noon
Class open to everyone
Radha Yoga Center dances are based on sacred dance traditions from India. They have a natural devotional quality that lifts the spirits and brings balance into our lives. These dances are a yoga practice and have form and structure in the same way that yoga asanas have. We embody the Divine within through gestures, rhythms and movements–not random movements, but a precise language that speaks to and awakens our spiritual nature.
Sacred dance can take us into the temple of our hearts, a place of clarity and acceptance, a place of passion that awakens love for the Divine. The dance is about rhythm and the resonance of movement, a movement that reflects life, enticing us to experience life at its fullest. Dance is like poetry. It expresses that which is difficult to express and goes beyond the events of daily life.
You don't need prior dance experience to enjoy these rhythms and gestures–we invite you to explore new ways of expressing what is deep inside you. Click here for the current class schedule.

“Dance brings light that infiltrates the depth of my being. Where there was fear, it brings
love. When I trip, my body memory finds a graceful movement from the vast treasure of the dance to help me recover. When I make a misstep in class there is gentle laughter that breathes in grace. To quote a line from a poem we dance to: "It brings all qualities out of defects." It is strengthening and delightful. Sacred Dance provides great support for meeting the challenges of the dance and life in this world.” Peggy Winkle
“Dance is a gateway to a Divine Encounter that cannot be reached through words or meditation - dance is meditation of the highest realm. It is very Present Moment.”

In reflecting on a part of the Cakra dance something is happening. A deeper understanding is taking place, something beyond the words of the mantra. The hastas and mudras with my hands and body, and movements, in rhythm, bring a feeling or more an understanding from a different place or part of my mind. Sharon Wobker
“Sacred Dance takes me out of the ordinary thinking of everyday life and challenges me to move my hands and arms and feet in completely new ways. This has allowed me to grow mentally and spiritually. I also enjoy the opportunity to work intimately in this learning effort with others as we learn new dances and reflect on our work each week. This way we build relationships and support each other in this area of like interest.” Gayle Swaggerty

When I engage with a dance, it enables me to discover in myself the qualities I’m representing in the dance, to become, just for that moment, more than I am. It’s also fun to learn when I don’t take myself too seriously. Faith Hayflich
Sacred Dance enables me to get past my armor and defenses, take in the symbols and meanings, feel the connection in my cells. This helps me to be in the present, I can relax deep inside, and cultivate trust with that universal Higher Essence. I can begin to experience and listen to my own Higher Self. Once I've learned the dances my mind and body relax. It is a joyful experience to express the intimate finer feelings of the dances in my body, heart and mind. Deborah Rose |
| Sacred Dance is about community, collaboration, expression and connection. It is so much more than the precision of hands, feet, and rhythm- it is the opportunity to laugh together, to work through frustration, and to bring awareness to and reflect on inner experiences, embracing the light when I find it, and working through issues (emotions, personality aspects) when that is the need that surfaces.
